Sample Applications from Designing Silverlight Business Applications

I've received a few emails regarding the book that the code files are not available from the publisher website. I've spoken with the publisher about this and they are working to correct it, but I wanted to provide a link for those of you who have been patiently waiting. As a backup to the main website, I've posted all of the sample applications online to SkyDrive and you can download them by clicking on this link. I appreciate you patience and hope you will take the time to post a review on the site you purchased the book from once you have read and worked through the examples to help others who are considering picking it up for themselves.

  1. I guess it's between you and the publisher, but ever thought about putting them on a code hosting site (github, codeplex, whatever) so if you need to make changes/fixes, people can just update with the changes? Also would make it easier for others to help contribute any potential errata :)

  2. Hi Jeremy,

Awesome book! I especially like the VsmAggregator. However, I can't seem to figure out how to kick off the grid or details listing storyboard animations from within a control (e.g. button) inside the Grid itself. Could you post the approach you have used to do this?

    Take care,

    Nathan

  3. Hi Jeremy,

I just figured it out. I was using an interactivity event for the "MouseLeftButtonUp" event on a button - which did nothing. When I changed the interactivity to "Click" everything worked ok.

    Thanks again,

    Nathan

  4. Are there any domain specific settings in your examples?

Running the Chapter 11 ToDoList Final project, I get the following error:

"The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."

Any suggestions on how to fix this, as I would anticipate that it might also occur with later iterations of the same project?

    1. The project uses Windows authentication to secure the web service. You can either set up a local group and add your user to it or you can remove the security attributes on the service to make it work if you're not on a domain.
